On the morning of April 30, 2022, I heard this phrase in the Spirit: "Driven in droves to the drying floor." I knew that "in droves" means "in large number." To be "driven" is to be obsessed with moving toward something, consumed with getting to a particular destination. I thought a "drying floor" might have something to do with the grain harvest, but I didn't know exactly what that is.
The drying floor is one of many steps to harvesting grain. Grain has to be planted, watered, tended, and then allowed to partially dry in the field. Then it is harvested and threshed (crushed under wood or stone in Bible days). Then it has to be sifted. And finally, it is spread on the drying floor - a flat surface, probably still the threshing floor, where the threshed grain is stirred under the heat of the sun until it is as dry as it can get.
Today, when grain is taken to be sold, the buyers test the moisture content with a probe. The grain has to meet a standard for dryness in order to qualify for the top sale prices. I asked the Holy Spirit, "What does the moisture content represent?" He answered, "In the field, while the grain is growing, it has to have moisture to stay alive. The moisture comes from the source of the field. The field is the world. The worldliness has to be dried out of the new believer, or even an "old" believer who has never submitted to such a process before.
They need to be stirred under the presence of the Son.
I began to understand that God was giving our company of prophets a description of our assignment in His harvest. We are to stir the new believer with the revelation of the spiritual realm and with the knowledge of how to gain access to the Son.
Finally, I saw a promise that we would have this privilege in the harvest of Jesus with many, as they are directed to us "in droves" - we will help "to make ready a people prepared for the Lord."
This made me muse about what the driest grain is used for. After the cutting and threshing and sifting and drying, the grain is good for . . . grinding! It is pulverized into a powder state - flour. And then it is mixed with other ingredients and baked in fire. We are consumed in this process, consumed into Jesus. The drying floor makes people ready to surrender all to the person and cause of Christ; we are finally useful to HIm. And we are finally One with Him.
